All year groups have a number of opportunities to go on a variety of School trips. For the younger years this tends to be day trips run mainly by academic departments where the emphasis is on providing a hands-on context to the work covered in class. Further to this in the second year, pupils spend a week during the Summer Term on an Outdoor Activity Course where the emphasis is on team building exercises and achieving personal goals.

Expeditions and fieldtrips play an even greater role in the learning opportunity of the older students. Language trips to Spain, France and Germany are available from the Year 9 and above as well as weekend and holiday time exercises with the CCF and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

In the Sixth Form there is further opportunity for students to be involved in off-site activities. A number of departments run field trips; biology, geography and geology.  The language department further develops overseas trips.  Expeditions to Peru, Russia, Iceland, Vietnam, Mongolia, India and Canada have proved invaluable in providing breadth and depth of interest. These trips, we hope offer a wider perspective and give opportunity for our students to become immersed in unfamiliar cultures and to work closely with local people in many countries of the world.
