Rugby is the major sport in the autumn term. At the junior level all pupils take part in rugby during games lessons and those involved in various age group squads will have an additional after school training session. Fixtures may take place in games lessons although most will take place on Saturday mornings.

We play three teams in most age groups up to senior level and have enjoyed increasing success in recent years.

Blue Coat were Berkshire U13 Rugby Champions in 2003, 2005, 2006 and we are the current holders of the trophy too. Similarly at U14 we are the current Champions as we were two years ago. This year’s U14’s also enjoyed a tour to Liguge (the twin town of Sonning) in France during the past season.

Our U15 team have reached the 4th round of the Daily Mail National Cup twice in the last three years and at senior level we reached the quarter-final of the Daily Mail Vase competition this year and had a very successful tour of Australia last summer. This followed recent tours to New Zealand and South Africa and projected tours to Canada and Italy.

In addition, we also host touring teams, the most recent being from Victoria Schools R.F.U. in Australia.
