Mr Michael Windsor, who joined as Headmaster of Reading Blue Coat School in September 2008, was born in Bristol. He attended Bristol Cathedral School, where he was a chorister, before going to Durham University where he achieved a First in German with French. After university he worked briefly in publishing before leaving for Italy where he taught English as a Foreign Language at the British School, Bologna. Upon his return to the UK, Mr Windsor took a PGCE at the Institute of Education in London. He taught French, German and Italian at King’s College School, Wimbledon, where he was also Director of the International Baccalaureate, and was Deputy Head of the Royal Grammar School in Guildford for five years. He coached the 2nd XV at both schools, as well as hockey and athletics. At KCS, he was an officer in the CCF and led World Challenge expeditions to Ecuador, Morocco and Pakistan. He completed an MA in Modern German Studies at Birkbeck College, University of London in 2000 and is an inspector for ISI.
Mr Windsor is married to Shanti, who works at Reading University, and they have two daughters, Amelia (7) and Beatrice (4). He enjoys sport and is a keen musician, playing the double bass in classical and jazz ensembles.
